Delores J. Best, 73, of Stockton, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at her home in Stockton.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to Durant American Legion Auxillary or Genesis Hospice in her memory.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 11, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Chaplain Ken Kline will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be LeRoy Doyle, Matt Fulton, Jeff Minic, Kevin Best, Nicholas Roesger and Loren Claussen. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Delores J. Martens was born on July 20, 1937, in Davenport, the daughter of Herman and Caroline (Meier) Martens. She married Melvin Frederick Best on October 8, 1955, in Davenport. She was member of the Durant American Legion Auxillary No. 430, where she was a past president. She enjoyed antiques, fishing and attending stockcar races. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin of Stockton; two daughters, Deborah (Melvin) Baxter of Moscow, and Denise (Mark) Roesger of Stockton; one son, Kevin (Denise) Best of Davenport; six grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Ryan, Emily, Emilee and Hannah; and one great-granddaughter, Delaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Irene Wuestenberg, Ruby Kraft, Ruth Kraft and Gladys Claussen and one brother in infancy.
