Edmund C. Schafer, age 86, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point.
He is survived by his wife: Antoinette "Toni" of 56 years

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007 with prayers at 9:30 AM at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 E. Joliet St., Crown Point, IN with Fr. Pat Kalich officiating. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.
Friends may visit with the family at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, (NOTE: NEW LOCATION AT) 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM. A Memorial Service at 7:00 PM by the IVFA, Indiana Volunteer Fireman Association.
Mr. Schafer was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown Point. He retired from the Crown Point Post Office with 36 years of service and the Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department. Edmund was a member of the Crown Point Lions Club and was very involved in the Historical Agricultural Society. He was an avid Notre Dame and Bears fan and very much enjoyed farming and sports and loved spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Mary Catholic School in Crown Point or Masses in his name at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown Point.
