Jess was the son of Solomon (Hega-heh aka Ca Ga Ha) and Minnie Captain.

Solomon's second wife was Minnie Track aka Mes Kah Na Ba Nah.


People get confused by the two Minnie's. But they are different people.

"Rites For Jess Quapaw Will Be Held Today
Quapaw, Okla., Jan. 14. - Funeral services for Jess Quapaw, 52 years old, full-blood Indian, who died Tuesday in the Indian sanatorium at Talihina, Okla., will be held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Harve McKibben home, southeast of here. The Rev. Alex Beaver will conduct Indian rites at the grave in the family cemetery on the Vic Griffin place, in the Devil's Promenade district. Military rites will be extended by the F.F.W. at the grave side. The Cooper funeral home of Miami will be in charge.

Mr. Quapaw was widely known among Oklahoma tribesmen, and was a direct descendant of the family for which the Quapaw tribe was name. He was born in Ottawa county and had resided here all his life. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving area two sons, Edward R. Quapaw of Claremore and Melvin Quapaw of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Mrs. Audrey Newman of Commerce, Mrs. Annabelle Holt of Prior, Mrs. Jesse Jean Bear of east of Miami and Mrs. Betty Rader of Tulsa, and five grandchildren."
