"Melvin Quapaw
Miami, Okla. - Indian funeral services for Melvin Quapaw, 46 yeears old, 1020 Seventh avenue, N.W., who died at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in Maimi Baptist hospital, will be conducted at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in Griffin Cemetery, northeast of Miami in the Promenade area. Irvin Wilson will read the Indian rites and burial will be under direction of Cooper funeral home.

Mr. Quapaw was a lifelong resident of Ottawa county and was born July 1, 1915, in the Promenade area, s son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Quapaw. He attended the native American Indian church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alverta Quapaw of the home in Miami; a brother, Edward Quapaw of Roswell, N.M., and four sisters, Mrs. Audrey Whitebird of Miami, Mrs. Anna Bell Holt of Napa, Calif., Mrs. Betty Lou Radar of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Jessie Jean Bear of Tahlequah, Okla."
