Thomas Edward Fleming was born in the township of Seymour, Wis., Nov. 9, 1886 and died at his home in the city of Shullsburg, March 18, 1924. In 1909 he came to Shullsburg and engaged in the blacksmith business, and during the same year was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Downs. To this union three children were born, Adrian, Mildred and Joyce. He continued in the blacksmith business until 1916, when he built a garage, which he operated for two years. Five years ago he sold the garage and returned to Seymour, where he engaged in farming. On the 27th day of February, this year, he sold his farm interests and moved back to this city to care for his mother. He was here but a few days when he was strickent with multiple neuritis, and two weeks later, on March 18, 1924, he passed away.
He leaves his wife and three children, an aged mother, Mrs. M.J. Fleming and three brothers, John V., of Geddes, S.D., William of Canistota, S.D., and James, Benton, Wis. Mrs. Laura Fields, Waterloo, Iowa and Thomas Murphy of Dubuque were present at the funeral, which was held Thursday morning, March 20. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery at Seymour.
Pallbearers were Jos. Gabel, Patrick Boyle, Elmer Curran, Peter Paquette, Wm. Gleason and Thos. Kennedy.
