On November 27th, 1933 a beautiful baby girl, Willie Jean, was born unto the proud parents of John
Rufus and Sarah Eugenia Moore Thurlkill. Our Heavenly Father called home her precious soul on
November 15th, 2022, just 12 days shy of her 89th birthday.
Willie Jean "Aunt Bill" Thurlkill Lockey devoted 60 years of love to her best friend and husband,
George Barto Lockey Sr. and from this union three daughters and a son were born.
Willie Jean dedicated her life to caring for and loving her children, and later her grandchildren, great
grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
As a homemaker she gathered the eggs, milked the cow, churned the butter and whipped up the
biscuits that fed her family. She sewed their clothes, each stitch sewn with love. She nursed their
wounds, wiped their tears and held them tight. She introduced them to the church and taught them
the love of Jesus. As motherhood gave way to grandparenting Willie Jean became Granny. She
doted on her grandchildren and spoiled each as only a grandmother could.
Her hobbies included reading, quilting, crocheting and enjoying time spent with her family. She
enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Willie Jean loved to tell the story of catching her big bass
which was mounted and hung on the wall.
Patiently waiting to welcome her into her Heavenly home are her parents; her sisters Etta Hux,
Ernestine Bates and Carolyn Bryan Barber; her brother Virgil Thurlkill; her grandson and great
grandson, Major and Logan Lundy; and the one she has missed most and spoke of often, the love of
her life, her husband Barto.
Forever to cherish her memory are her children Jeanine (Dutch) Lundy, Georgia (John) Upton,
George (Jerri) Lockey, and Ginger (Andy) Moore; her grandchildren Shannon (Kurtis) Healey, Amy
(James) Peace, Sara (Will) Middleton, Tara (Mark) Fleming, Ashlee (Zac) McNeil, Brittany Nelson,
Jess (Valerie) Lockey and Lauren (Jordan) Winter; 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great
grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters Joyce Ham and Florence Williamson, a host of
nieces and nephews as well as her brothers and sisters in Christ at Mt. Union Baptist Church. Also
missing her is her faithful companion for the last few years her precious yorkie CiCi.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Union Baptist Church Library Fund, 653 Mt. Union
Rd., or LifeTouch Hospice of El Dorado.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Will Middleton, Kurt Healey, James Peace, Zac McNeil, Jess Lockey,
Jordan Winter and great grandsons Kevin Peace and Bradyn Betts.

Funeral services Will be held at 2:00pm Friday, November 18, 2022 at Mount Union Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR, Pastor John Ayers officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the church prior to the service starting at 1:00pm. Internment at Smyrna Cemetery following the service.
