She was born as Liefke Alberda in February 1888 at the town of Bedum in the mid northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, named for her paternal grandmother Liefke Pieters Kol.

On 4 May 1893 her father and farmer Pieter Alberda arrived with his wife Cornelia and their children Willem, Pieterke, Liefke and Hendrik on the SS Spaarndam at New York. Their destination is Bozeman, the seat of Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana.

In the beginning of 1910 Peter Alberda lived with his wife Cornelia and their children Lizzie and Henry in Schooldistrict 34 of Gallatin County.
Lizzie died in May the same year at the age of 22 years in Manhattan, Gallatin County.
