DEATH OF JOHN F. COLLEY

Shortly after noon on Wednesday, the death occurred of a well-known citizen, Mr. J.F. Colley, who was 60 years of age on the 7th of this month. He had been ailing for about 5 years with neuritis and bronchitis and about a month ago took the flu, which hastened his death. He leaves his wife, five sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Hugh Hamilton, of Saskatchewan; Mrs. Woodcock of Toronto; and Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. H. Waller, of Hamilton, and Mrs. E. Nelson of Bracebridge, and the brothers, Alfred of Seattle and Harry of Boyne City.

John Frederick Colley was born at Brighton, England, and came to Canada with his parents when 13 years old locating first in Medonte Township, and coming to Muskoka in 1872. He was married in 1886 to Miss. Effie Morrow of Orillia. Shortly afterwards he and Mrs. Colley went to Manitoba and came back east to Bracebridge 17 years ago, where they have since made their home. He followed the trades of cook and mason and while in the West ran a temperance hotel for 11 years. He was also manager of the Queen's Hotel in Bracebridge for a number of years. Mr. Colley was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of Kenora Lodge I.O.O.F. He was a man of public spirit, who took a keen interest in the welfare of his fellow townspeople.

THE LATE MR. JOHN F. COLLEY

The late J.F. Colley whose death was announced in last week's Gazette was 60 years of age. He had been ailing for some years but this winter had an attack of the flu which his weak state could not overcome. Besides his wife, he leaves five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. E. Nelson, of this town; Mrs. Hugh Hamilton, of Sask., Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Waller, of Hamilton; Mrs. Woodcock of Toronto; Harry, of Michigan and Alfred of Seattle, Washington.

He was born at Brighton, England and when only 13 years of age came to Canada with his parents locating in Medonte Township, coming to Muskoka in 1872. He was married in Orillia in 1886, to Miss. Effie Morrow. Soon after the young couple went west, but in 1903 they moved back to Bracebridge, later having charge of the Queen's Hotel.

The funeral took place last Saturday from his late residence, Shier Street. Reverend A.B. Irwin, officiating. Interment being in the Methodist Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. John Thomson, G.H.O. Thomas, Wm. McConnell, George Frith, J.B. Aulph and J.H. Thomson; all members of the Local Order of Oddfellows, under whose charge the funeral was held.

Those in attendance at the funeral were his brother, Mr. Harry Colley, of Boyne City, Michigan, and Mrs. Waller, Hamilton, Mrs. Ttd. Colley, Callander, Mrs. Fred Nichols, Toronto, Mrs. William Reeds and Earl Reeds, Omemee, and Harold Snider, Washago. The floral tributes were: wreaths from I.O.O.F., sisters Katie and Lizzie and family, sister Annie and Frank, sister Alice and Joseph and brother Harry; and sprays from Knox Church Ladies Aid, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Findlay and Amy, Mr. and Mrs. Howard, and little Miss. Onetta Moreland.

To the widow and relatives all sympathy is extended.
