Mrs. Wayne Batts of Wallace, Rt. No. 2, died in the James Walker Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 o'clock p. m. from the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by Reverend K. D. Brown, assisted by Reverend Vance Rich. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Batts, and eleven children: Winifred Batts of Wallace; Sgt. Horace Batts of Fort Benning, Ga.; Joseph and Royce Batts of Wallace; Mrs. Ralph Gurganus, Mrs. Pender Gurganus and Mrs. Emory Price of Wallace; Mrs. Norwood Boone of Rose Hill; Carolyn Patricia and Gloria Batts of the home. Her mother, Mrs. Maggie Carter of Wallace; a sister, Mrs. Robert L. Murray of Wallace; a brother, Edwin Carter of Wallace; also a half-sister, Mrs. Stephen Savage of Culver City, Cal.; a half-brother, Charlie Carter of Wallace; and 6 grandchildren. The body will be carried to the church at 2 o'clock p.m. where it will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service.
