Alice Haynes explains that the actual death date was the 16 July 1958, on which date she (Alice Fiedler Haynes) was present because her only sister Janet (13 months apart) was being married in Ottumwa in the family's backyard; during the time that the celebrants were dining out, say the night before the wedding, Alice Graybill Bedinger passed. Alice Haynes explains that Alice Graybill was the last of 9 children, and she had 6 children of her own--so during the end of her life, she lived with each of the children for a long while, in turn. Alice Haynes also explains that that her mother, Sue Bedinger Fieldler always said that Alice Graybill's true year of birth was 1858-- not 1859; Alice's mother Polly O. had explained this to them. Somehow Alice's birth had been omitted from the family bible so...But yes, she rightly made it to about 100 years...Kenneth A. Graybeal, Buckley WA traces Alice's paternal heritage on his informative website showing her as "ALICE9 GRAYBILL (MICHAEL8, SOLOMON7, JOHN6, CHRISTIAN5, JACOB4 GREBIL/KREHBIEL, MICHAEL3 KREHBIEL, JOST2, PETER1)"; he cites her date of birth as 3 Jan 1859, Botetourt Co., Virg., d. 1958.
Thanks to the lovely tombstone picture added, it seems that Alice died in Iowa rather than Georgia due to the inscription. Thanks so much! Sounds as if she was with her youngest Fiedler daughter in Iowa. Thanks to findagraver, Kathryn Cox(#46833968) for naming her parents to link.
