Mrs. Margaret Jean Shook, 91, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Harbor Manor in Noblesville.

She was born May 8, 1921, in Boone County, to Fred and Etta (Sparrow) Waitt. She graduated from Sheridan High School.

Mrs. Shook married George Gaylord Shook on July 19, 1941; he died on Dec. 7, 1977.

She worked for Arbuckle's Railroad Place in Noblesville and Hoggatt's Hardware in Sheridan. She also assisted her husband with farming, and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Shook was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and attended Cicero Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Steve (Jolaine) Shook of Noblesville; one daughter, Gayla (Bill) McMurtry of Sheridan; two grandsons, Brian Shook, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Blaine (Andrea) McMurtry of Noblesville; two granddaughters, Erin (George) Reners of Sheridan and Stephanie Shook of Indianapolis; special family friend, Terry Hart; and five great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband; brother, Warren Waitt; and sisters, Madge Bailey and Mable Wallace.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Ciampa officiating.

Interment will be at Crown View Cemetery, Sheridan.
