M. A. Carter, 76, died Friday at Candler Hospital, Savannah, GA. He was born in Johnson Co and lived in Sav many years. He was retired from Union Camp after 30 yrs of service working as a scaleman. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII in the Seabees. He was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and taught the adult S/S class.
Survivors: his wife, Marjorie Lynn Carter of Sav; two daughters, Mary J. Fordham of Sav and Annette C. Grooms of Sugar Hill; a brother, Roger Carter of Metter; three sisters, Willene Monroe and Onita Hutcheson, both of Cobbtown and Marion Davis of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Tracy Barnett of Flowery Branch, Shelly Dickler of Dracula and Benjamin C. Fordham; three stepsisters; a stepbrother; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 11 a.m. today at Grace PBC, Elder Keith Hamilton officiating. Intermant in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
