Cynthia Miller Carson was the youngest child of John Adam Miller and Salita/Seleter Barnett Miller. She was born in Pendleton District, SC only a few years before her parents moved the family to Franklin County, Georgia in 1808. Cynthia married David Patman Carson in 1827 in Franklin County, Georgia. Cynthia Miller Carson is mentioned in David Patman Carson's will filed in Franklin County, Georgia in 1883 per Georgia, U.S., Wills and Probate Records, 1742-1992; as his "beloved wife". Cynthia and David both appear in the US Census records for years 1830-1880 in Franklin County, GA.

The Carson's raised a large family in Franklin County, Georgia and had the unique distinction of having all 7 of their sons serve in the Confederate Army and five of them returned home; two of their sons died in the service, James Marion Carson and John Columbus Carson. They also had two son-in-laws who served in the Confederate army; Francis Patterson Neal who married their daughter Dicey Caroline Carson and William Brooks Neal who married daughter Cynthia Clementine Carson.
