The 1870 US Census of Township 17, Jefferson Co., AL (this would become Leeds, AL in 1877) enumerated the household of 31 Y/O William Robert Abercrombie, a dry goods merchant born in AL, and his 30 Y/O wife, Martha Adline (Robertson) Abercrombie, born in AL. Also living in the household were their children: 10 Y/O John Henry Thomas Abercrombie, a student; 8 Y/O William Fendol Abercrombie, a student; 6 Y/O James Isaac Abercrombie, a student, and 4 Y/O Mary Cornelia Abercrombie.

The 1910 US Census of Ward 12, Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 50 Y/O John Henry Abercrombie, real estate agent, and his 48 Y/O Frances Ella (Godwin) Abercrombie. Also living in the household were their 20 Y/O daughter, Beatrice Martha (Abercrombie) Farrar and her 30 Y/O husband, Dr. William Charles Farrar. Sr, a general physician.
