Lucy Broadbent, eldest child of Joseph Broadbent, Jr. and Hannah Maria Layfield, b. Sept. 20, 1886 at Oldham, Lancashire, England. Along with her parents and younger brother, Lucy emigrated in 1889-90 from Oldham, England initially to Norton, Mass. then later to Attleboro, Mass. where her father became involved in Attleboro's extensive jewelry making industry. Lucy died Nov. 30, 1977 at East Providence, RI.
On Oct. 30, 1914 at St. Martin's Episcopal Church at Radnor, Penn., Lucy m. her 2nd cousin James Edmund "Ed" Layfield, eldest son of Edmund Layfield and Alice Gray Wolfe, b. Jan. 5, 1888 at Radnor, Penn. Ed died Feb. 26, 1977 also at East Providence, RI. They had two children who are outlined in their father's memorial along with greater detail regarding the family.
