Obituary: Inwood, Iowa. Edward Bramstedt, 89, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Avera/McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral service held Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley, Iowa. Burial was at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Edward John Bramstedt was born March 4, 1920 to Henry Sr and Adelia (Schemmel) Bramstedt in Inwood, Iowa. He graduated from Alvord High School. Ed served his country during World War II from 1942 -1946 in the United States Army Airforce. Ed was united in marriage to Lillian Watke on February 4, 1947 in Luverne, Minnesota. Together they farmed near Doon, Iowa and then in 1953 continued farming near Alvord. Ed drove school bus for West Lyon School District for 44 years. They moved to Inwood in 2004. He was a member of the Dick De Boer American Legion Post #704 for over 60 years and was a member of Rock Rapids V.F.W.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lillian; one son, Barry (Nancy) Bramstedt of Hinton, Iowa; one daughter, Glennis (Dennis) Chrissinger of Burnsville, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren: Travis Niemi, Allison (Will) Poulson, Jessica (John) Bornhofen, Justin Niemi and Ashley (Kirk) Kooken; 2 great-grandchildren: Hannah Poulson and Nash Kooken; one brother, Henry Bramstedt of Harrisburg, SD; 2 special friends: Tyler and Bryce Kock of Inwood, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Bruce Niemi; twin-granddaughters: Sarah and Sally Bramstedt; brothers: George and Louis Bramstedt; sisters: Elsie Stettnichs, Tillie Stettnichs, Minnie Dubbelde and Dora Bramstedt
