Mary Ellen (Day) Sibbitt, 86, of Mt. Zion, passed away at 7:40 A.M., Thursday, August 12, 2004, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M., Saturday, August 14, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur.
Mrs. Sibbitt was born in Lodge, Illinois, on November 23, 1917, the daughter of James Ensel and Velva Lona Gadbury. She graduated from Monticello High School and was employed by the De­catur Signal Depot and other federal agencies for twenty years. She was a member of Central Christian Church.
She married Alva E. Day in July 1937. He passed away October 1950. She married Joseph W. Sibbitt on November 25, 1964.
Surviving are her husband Joseph; son Roger E. Day and wife Gwen of Springfield; daughter Lona Virginia Kickle and husband Hunter of Mt. Zion; sister Elsie Snoke of Cerro Gordo; brother Leslie Gadbury and wife Norma of Monticello; niece Waneta Ellis and husband Frank of Monticello; granddaughters Steph­anie Brown and husband Bill of Decatur, Suzanne Kobay­ashi and husband Jeff of Springfield, Andrea Miller and husband Karl of Mahom­et; step grandchildren Robert Judge and wife Marla of Ill­iopolis, Sonja Gragg of Springfield; great grandchildren Sarah and Daniel Browning, Kristin and Rachel Kobayashi, Evan Miller, and step great granddaughters Rebecca Judge, Elizabeth Judge, and Lindsey Gragg.
Mrs. Sibbitt was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Hugh and Berlie Gadbury, infant brother, and sisters Grace Gadbury, Stella Barger, and Lillie Samuels.
