HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- William Saunders Harper, 53, of Hilton Head Island, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Martinsville on March 29, 1953, to Charles Blain Harper and Margaret Barker Harper, who currently live in Charlottesville.
He graduated from Hartsville (S.C.) High School and attended the University of Tennessee. A longtime resident of Hilton Head Island, he was Professional Golfers Association (PGA)-certified and worked as an assistant golf pro at a number of golf courses.
In addition to his parents, surviving are three sisters, Mary H. Turner of Springfield, Ga., Charlotte Harper of Charlottesville and Meg H. Dain of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Blain Harper of Charlottesville; his grandmother, Bessie Barker of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville. The Rev. J.D. Harmon will officiate.
