Omer served his country in the United States Army, during World War II, serving 18 months in the European Theater.
On October 26, 1946, he married the former Frances Samsa at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo. She preceded him in death October 8, 1979.
Omer worked at Badger Paper Mill for 42 years retiring in 1980. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church, past President of the Peshtigo Historical Society, past President of the Marinette County Collation on Aging, past Chaplin of the American Legion, past member of the Disabled American Veterans and past treasurer of the Peshtigo Senior Center. Omer was an excellent woodworker and master gardener.
Omer is survived by two daughters: Carola Fritz of Peshtigo, WI and Tina (Carl) Winnekins of Green Bay, WI;
three grandchildren: Beth (Mike) Steffel, Denise (Mike) Kapalko and Craig (special friend, Nicole) Winnekins;
eight great-grandchildren: Matthew and Ryan Steffel; Emily and Mya Kapalko; Charles Marquez, and Kylie, Alivia and Carissa Winnekins;
two brothers: Roy and Emil Fritz;
and a sister, Vivian Bertrand.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Clarence Fritz
and a sister Geneva Baldwin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2nd at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
