Mr. Ayotte served honorably in the Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the city of Augusta Department of Public Works as a heavy equipment mechanic for many years.
Mr. Ayotte was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallowell, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He was predeceased by his parents; by his first wife, Jeanette (Poulin) Ayotte, who died in 1956; two sisters, Germaine Parlin and Anita Goodchild; and a brother, Gerald Ayotte.
Surviving is his wife, Frances (Fletcher) Ayotte, of Augusta; one son, Ronald D. Ayotte, of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Dianne A. Knight and her husband, John, of Bucksport, Judith M. Moores and her husband, Jerry, of Lincoln, and Mary F. Ayotte and her partner, Barbara Mispilkin, of Strong; two grandsons, Jared Knight, and Jameson Knight and his wife, Kera; and several nieces and nephews.
Clifford will be remembered for his kind and easy manner and sense of humor.
