PLEASANT GARDEN — Mr. Lacy Elton Coltrane, 88, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, at Centre Friends Meeting, with Pastor Rusty Parsons and Brother Jeff Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Meeting cemetery.

Lacy was born April 21, 1923 to the late B. Eugene and Tula F. Coltrane. He served in the United States Navy in WWII and retired from E. F. Craven as a mechanic. He served the community as a volunteer firefighter with the Level Cross Fire Department where he and his late wife volunteered many hours at department events. Lacy loved the outdoors, his garden, flowers, being on the tractor and working with his cows.

Lacy was a life-long member of Centre Friends Meeting, member of the Hackney Vereen Sunday School Class, and served on the Cemetery and Grounds Committee for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patsy A. Coltrane and sister, Irene Coltrane.

He is survived by daughter, Jane C. Jones and husband George; son, Ronnie E. Coltrane and wife Audrey, all of Pleasant Garden; sister, Ethel Whitaker, brothers, Roy Coltrane and Cecil Coltrane, all of Pleasant Garden; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 26, at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden, and other times at the home of daughter Jane Jones, 6401 Manorhaven Place, Pleasant Garden.

The family expresses their appreciation for the loving care provided to Lacy by the staff of the Clapp's facilities in Pleasant Garden. Also, thanks are extended to the staff and physicians of Greensboro Cardiology Associates, P.A., and Carolina Kidney Associates, P.A.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centre Friends Meeting Van Fund, 325 NC 62 East, Greensboro, NC 27406.
