Dorothy Harriette Rockwell Liedel, 79, died at 9:20 PM Thursday [Aug. 25, 1977] in her residence at Dewey Hall, Indiana Veterans Home, following several years of failing health. Born and reared at Alburgh, VT, she had lived at Springfield, Alton and Chicago, IL, before moving to Lafayette in 1954. In 1922, she married Russell B. Liedel, who was an attorney in Illinois before his death in 1940.

Mrs. Liedel was a secretary to the colonel of the Veterans Home for 12 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Order of Eastern Star Hope Chapter 5, and was past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star at Alton, IL.

Surviving are her daughter, Jeanne (Mrs. James) Goris of Lafayette, with whom she resided before entering the Veterans Home in February; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
