Patrolman Paul Goldak Jr., DSN 0762, received his commission on 11/01/1943. Upon completion of the academy, his 1St uniformed assignment was in the 10Th District on 12/13/1943. Officer Goldak was later transferred to the 2Nd District on 02/01/1951. Officer Goldak was writing a traffic citation on 11/4/1961 to a driver when another car struck him, causing severe internal and bone injuries. He required several surgeries and died of kidney failure attributed to the accident on 09/01/1964. Officer Goldak went out on a department related Medical Disability on 10/31/1962 as a result of his injuries. His death was later reclassified as a "Line of Duty" death in the years that followed. Officer Goldak had served with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years. He is survived by his wife Leona and four children.
