Mrs. Justine L. Goldak-Reed, DSN 5577, started her career as a civilian on 04/15/1965 in the System's Division as an office clerk. On 05/08/1966 she was transferred to the Prisoner Processing Division. On 05/16/1966 she received her commission as a Turnkey and remained in this position until 12/29/1972 when she resigned her commission. Mrs. Goldak-Reed took a position in the Identification Section as a clerk. Mrs. Goldak-Reed received 2 Chief's Letters of Commendation on 02/17/1981 and 11/12/1982 for outstanding performance to the department. Mrs. Goldak-Reed retired on 05/03/1985 having served 20 years and 18 days of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

It should be noted that her 1st husband Officer Paul Goldak Jr. DSN 0762, was struck on duty while he was writing a traffic citation on 11/04/1961. Officer Goldak subsequently died on 09/01/1964 and his death was reclassified as a Line of Duty death.

Mrs. Goldak-Reed remarried in later years to Officer Harold B. Reed, DSN 1860, who also served with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Goldak, and one daughter, Betsy Greaves. She is survived by her children, Paul (Donna) Goldak, Michele (Patrick) Condon, and John (Toni) Goldak, stepdaughter Lynn (George) Goetz, grandchildren Susan, Sarah, Paul, Bryan, Caitlin, Johnny, Michael, step-grandchildren Bill, and Jennifer, and her sister Anna Hudyma. She was a retired member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, enjoyed crafting, and was an avid reader.
