Eddie Lee McDaniel was born December 2, 1912 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Vina Mae and Riley McDaniel and passed away February 25, 1994 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Eddie Lee graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1931 and was a partner in the McDaniel Grocery Store with his father. He married Clesta Cozetta Davis on March 2, 1940 in Cheyenne, OK. Eddie Lee entered the United States Army in 1943 and served his country during World War II as a medical technician on a transport ship in the South Pacific and Europe. After his discharge he owned and opperated McDaniel Grocery until his retirement in 1968. He later owned and operated McDaniel Variety Store until 1984.
Eddie Lee had a love of basketball and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and his son coach. He was also an avid fisherman.
He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Services were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 1994 at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Laddie Adams. Interment was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
Survivors include his wife, Clesta of the home; one daughter/son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Youngblood, Cheyenne; two sons/daughters-in-law, Johnny and Becky McDaniel, Cheyenne; Jim and Jill McDaniel, Elk City; one sister, Mazine Glenn, Paramount, CA; 6 grandchildren Donna Rutledge, Robert Norris, Jacie, John and Jamie McDaniel, Zac McDaniel; 2 great grandchildren, Chase and Shane Rutledge; 1 sister-in-law, Etta Fae and Richard Garling, Cheyenne; his mother-in-law, Farry Davis, Cheyenne; and a host of other relatives and friends.
