Reed L. Beightol 64, of 18 West Seventh Street, died in the Oil City Hospital at 9:15 am Sunday following a heart attack he suffered earlier in the morning. Son of Cyrus and Laura Reed Beightol, he was born in Dempseytown January 13, 1887.
He spent most of his life on his farm on the Oil City-Dempseytown Road. He worked for Oilwell Supply Company for 37 years, and later was associated with the Blind Association. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
On September 16, 1908, he married Mabel McCammon, and she survives, with a son, William A. Beightol, Mt. Kisco, NY; two daughters, Mrs. Galen Martin, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Norman Shreffler, Oil City; brothers, Vern Beightol, Erie, and Fred Heyl Beightol, Conneautville; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Schelton and Mrs. Clarence Reed, Oil City, and Mrs. Frank Ackerman, Conneaut Lake; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday in Crawford Funeral Home with Rev. David N. Thomas, pastor of First Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Dempsey Cemetery in Dempseytown.
