Robert Elmer Goulder was born January 16, 1927. When he was very young, his parents (Charles and Eunice (Godfrey) Goulder) were killed in a tragic car accident on October 22, 1929 leaving Elmer (age 2), his sister - Emma Mae (age 6), and his brother - Edward Charles (age 4) in the custody of the state of Texas.

The 3 children were placed into the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) Orphans Home in Corsicana, TX where they were raised until they reached adulthood.

Elmer met and married Carolyn Ann Carter in Tarrant County, TX in the late 1940s and their son, Cliff Carter Goulder was born there on July 8, 1949. Elmer and Carolyn divorced in the early 1950s.

Elmer was a pedestrian crossing the street in Culver City, CA when he was hit and killed by a car on July 8, 1955 at the age of 28. His body was transported back to Dallas, TX where he was buried at Grove Hill Cemetery in the Odd Fellows section.

He was survived by his sister, Mrs. Carl Cox, and brother, Edward Charles Goulder.

Graveside services were held at 5 p.m. Friday, July 15th with Rev. Murray Marshall and Rev. A. M. Stone officiating. Pallbearers were Frank Garrison, B. A. Schultz, O. A. Benthul, Ben Allen, Dean Cumbie, and Gordon Small. Honorary pallbearers were Ex-students of I.O.O.F. Home. Funeral services were coordinated by Dudley M. Hughes Funeral Home (400 E. Jefferson).
