Jess lived almost all of his life in the Southeastern Kansas town of Oswego. He married Sarah Whisamore around 1915. They bought a small home near the center of town and lived there the rest of their lives.
Jess' occupation was working as a switch man with the Katy train lines. He worked with Katy until he retired.
Jess and Sarah were the father to two boys: Alfred and Clifford. Both of their boys married and each had two kids. Alfred lived close to his parents in Coffeyville Kansas while Clifford moved his wife and family to Southern California.
Jess and Sarah spent most of their winters in California visiting their son Clifford and his family. There they would stay for several months at a time.
Jess passed away on April 4 1964 while in California visiting his son and family. His body was transferred back home on the train to be buried in Oswego.
*** Jess was a great son, father and granddad. He had a very gentle soul and was loved by all.
