Lucinda Woodruff was born in 1809 in Elkin Township, Surry, North Carolina, USA, the daughter of Gideon Woodruff (1764–1820) and Prudence Day Phillips (1768–1820). It is possible that she was 12th of sixteen children born to the couple but I am still working on documenting her brothers and sisters. Possible Siblings: John Spencer Woodruff (1784-1812), Abner Woodruff (1786-1829), Mary Polly Woodruff (1789-1867), Cornelius Wesley Woodruff (1788-1871), Samuel Woodruff (1793-1863), Moses Woodruff Jr. (1800-1860), Jannet Woodruff (1805-1915), Micajah Washington Woodruff (1805-1810), Rebecca Ortin Woodruff (1806-1878), Sarah Phebe Woodruff (1807-1870), Elizabeth Betsy Woodruff (1808-1860), Allen P. Woodruff (1812-1851), David Henry Woodruff (1794-1872), Abigail Woodruff (1810-1827) and Elizabeth Woodruff (1796-1850). She was married to Reuben Alexander Shores on 12 April 1833 in Surry County, North Carolina. They became the parents of ten children: Amzey Alexander Shores (1835-1918), Celia Elizabeth [Shores] Hannah (1839-1904), Amanda Viana [Shores] Holland/Phillips (1843-), Alonza Pinson Shores (1845-1913), William A. Shores (1848-), Daughter Shores (1849-), Jennettie [Shores] Walker (1851-1912), Rebecca Frances [Shores] Callahan (1854-1929) and Laura Josephine [Shores] Shell (1855-1912).

The 1850 Census record shows a female child that was 1 year old, but I could not read her name. According to the 1880 Census, Lucinda was widowed and living in the Chulio District, Floyd, Georgia. It also states that her parents were born in Ireland but other records that I have found dispute that information.

Lucinda passed away in 1889in Rome, Floyd, Georgia.
