Charles William Armstrong "Charlie" of Fort Gibson passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home. Charlie was born on November 15,1935, in Fulton County, Arkansas, the son of Andrew and Cora (Worthington) Armstrong. Charlie served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and eventually settled down in the Fort Gibson area after completing his Mechanics schooling in Bartlesville, OK.

Charlie owned and operated several gas/service stations in Muskogee and Fort Gibson. It was while living in Fort Gibson that Charlie met the love of his life, Brenda, after hiring her as a baby sitter for his son. Charlie and Brenda would fall in love and join each other in marriage on March 24, 1977 in Wagoner, OK. Charlie loved the outdoors and took a job as a Wildlife Technician with the Oklahoma State Department of Wildlife where he retired from in 1998. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. Charlie also enjoyed the times spent with family and friends at church. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Brenda of the home; a daughter, Toni Gregory of Fort Gibson, OK, his son, Terry Guinn and his wife Ann of Tahlequah, OK; his three granddaughters Desiree Wofford, Morgan Guinn, and Ashlyn Guinn; his grandson, Gavin Guinn; a mother-in-law, Martha Perry of Fort Gibson, OK; a brother-in-law, Donald Perry of Vian, OK; his three sisters, Bonnie Spurlock of Springfield, MO, Wanda Longbottom of Kansas City, MO and Sara Lou Maddox and her husband Sherwood of Bourbon, MO, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 at the Crescent Valley Baptist Church in Tahlequah, OK with Pastor Chadd Pendergraft officiating. Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery in Tahlequah. Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2012 from 12 noon until 8 P.M. at the Reed Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah. Pallbearers will be Terry Guinn, Donald Perry, Brett Hammack, Kenneth Arney, Tom Wade, and Steve White. Honorary pallbearers will be Arvel Hammack, Belvie Martin, Jim Arney, and Laymon Garrison.
