A resident of Byhalia, Mississippi and a former resident of Glendale, Illinois.
Passed away Saturday evening, February 4, 2012, at 7:25 PM at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven, Mississippi.
Shirley was born January 9, 1948 in Cairo, Illinois. She was the daughter of Clarence Ernest "Bert" Norvell and Gertrude "Gertie" (Nezval) Norvell.
Shirley was united in marriage to her loving husband Philip Ray Benard for over 30 years.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by:

2 Sons – Troy Lee & Kim Cunningham of Smithland, KY

Her Father – Clarence Ernest "Bert" Norvell
A Brother – Kenneth Wayne Norvell
Shirley was the co-owner/operator of Star Auto Mart in Collierville, Tennessee. She treasured family gatherings, was a wonderful photographer, and loved animals, especially horses and dogs.
Shirley was a loving wife and devoted mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Service at New Liberty Church, southeast of Eddyville, IL, on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1 PM.
Pastor Jerry Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery.
