SAMUEL L. LESTER, 80, of Millington, died December 28, 2011 at Veterans Medical Center Memphis. He was a retired Captain for Memphis Police Dept., member of Shelby Forest Baptist Church, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, a Purple Heart recipient, member of Millington Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Shrine. He was the best husband and father. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, December 30 and service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31, all at Millington Chapel. Interment will be in Cathey Cemetery, Wyatte, MS. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Freda Lester; daughter, Samantha (John) Lodrique; sons, William B. Lester, Michael D. (Charlene) Lester, James L. (Deea) Lester, Samuel W. (Cara) Lester; nine grandchildren, Colt, Amber, Cody, Lauren, Morissa, Chase, Grant, Marianna, Max. He also leaves a host of cousins and one aunt. Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph J. and Pearl McCrary Lester, one sister, Jo Alice Samford, one son, Kim Lester and one grandchild, Kasey.
