Pearl Lester, 91, of Holland, MO died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, MO.

born January 8, 1911 in West, MS, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Monroe McCrary and Mary Alice Shine McCrary.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Bill McCrary, Ernest McCrary, Walter McCrary, Waldon McCrary and Tommy McCrary and two sisters: Bernice Huffington and Daisy Barksdale.

Pearl was united in marriage to Joseph James Lester on November 19, 1927 in Blytheville, AR. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1977.

She was employed as a clerk at the New York Store in Blytheville for many years, a longtime Holland News correspondent for the Steele Enterprise and a member of the Holland Baptist Chruch.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester raised five children: Samuel Louis Lester of Millington, TN; the late Jo Alice Lester Sanford; three of her youngers siblings: Grace McCrary Shelton of Benton, AR, the late Waldon McCrary and the late Tommy McCrary.

Mrs. Lester also leaves two sisters: Oma Dale McCrary Maxwell and Mildred McCrary Kammer; either grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lester were held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, MO with Bro. John Earl Dunavant officiating.

Burial was at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville, MO with John. W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Kim Lester, Bill Lester, Mike Lester, Jim Lester, Sam Lester, Tim McCrary, Glenn Samford and Colt Lester.
