Evansdale - Services for Charles Keith Dewater, 65, of 1030 Brookside Ave., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, with graveside military rites conducted by Evansdale AMVETS POST 31.
He died Saturday afternoon at Covenant Medical Center - St. Francis, Waterloo.
Mr. Dewater was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Waterloo, son of Ola Philip and Clara Etta Adams Dewater. He married Pearl Thorp Dec. 6, 1941, in Waterloo. He worked for H & W Motor Freight Co., retiring in 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Five sons, Charles Ray of Wyoming, Mich., James Eugene of Honolulu, Richard Alan and Terry Duane, both of Evansdale, and Gary Dean of Waterloo; three daughters, Kathy Lynne Stone of Waterloo, Ann Marie Dewater of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cheryl Sue Dewater of Evansdale; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother Russell of Joplin, Mo.; and seven sisters, Beulah Teel of Carl Junction, Mo., Ruth Martin and Rhea Brawner both of Hutchinson, Kan., Marlys Hovey of Cresco, Darlene Anthony of Salinas, Calif., Helen Ponte of Evansdale and Nadine Liebert of Waterloo; he was proceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
