Mrs. Susan Waddell died Thursday evening at her home in Stockwell. She had only been ill two days and her death was caused by pneumonia. Deceased was a daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Hanger and was born July 11, 1835, and was united in marriage to William Waddell in 1858. Her husband died in 1872. She was the mother of three children, William Waddell, of Los Angeles; Harry Waddell, of Stockwell, and James Waddell, who died in infancy. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Josephine Guard, of Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Hannah Smith, of Charleston, Ill. Mrs. Waddell had a wide acquaintance and was greatly devoted to her home.(Lafayette, Indiana Journal Saturday October 9, 1915)
