THE DEATH OF KATHERINE MARTIN
Mrs Katherine Martin, wife of David Martin, died at her home in Stockwell Sunday night at 11:30 o'clock from heart trouble. Her death was very unexpected. She had attended church that day and was apparently in excellent health when she retired Sunday night.
Mrs Martin was formerly Miss Katherine Hanger and was born in this county on May 3, 1844. She leaves a husband and three daughters, Mrs Elizabeth Ellis and Misses Mary and Lora Martin.
She was a member of the United Brethren church and was a woman of noble character. She was devoted to her home and family and was a sympathetic and generous friend and neighbor. No one in the community was held in higher esteem.

The funeral will be conducted from the Methodist church in Stockwell on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev J. H. Kevan, of Terre Haute, will officiate and the interment will be made in the Concord cemetery. (Lafayette, Indiana Daily Courier, Tuesday, April 20, 1909)
