WHITEVILLE — Lee Jackson Greer Sr., 89, died Sunday, May 7, 2000 at the Columbus County Hospital. He was the son of the late Lee Greer and Laura Andersen Greer. He was preceded in death by his son Lee J. "Bubba" Greer Jr. He worked with the Red Cross as a Field Director during the war years. Mr. Greer served as District Attorney of the 13th Judicial District until 1982. He attended the University of North Carolina where he earned his law degree. He was a member of the Whiteville United Methodist Church. Final rites will be conducted Tuesday, May 9 at 3 p.m. at the Whiteville United Methodist Church by the Rev. C.B. Owens. Interment will be in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary is handling the arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Hardee Greer of the home; one daughter: Dr. Laura Greer Vick and husband Gilbert of Durham; three grandchildren: Brian Jackson Vick, Anna Elizabeth Vick, and Stephen Greer Vick. Visitation will be Monday night from 7-9 p.m. at McKenzie Mortuary.
