Judge Lee J. Greer Jr,
Long Beach - Judge Lee J. Greer, Jr., of Long Beach, N.C., born November 23, 1949, died Friday at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
He is Survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee J. Greer Sr., of Whiteville, a sister, Dr. Laura Greer Vick of Durham and three nieces and nephews, Brian Vick, Anna Vick, Stephen Vick all of Durham.
He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1972 and North Carolina Central Law School in 1976, he was a member of Whiteville United Methodist Church, he was a member of the State Bar, 13th Judicial Bar, the American Bar Association and also worked with Brunswick Playmakers, in various Youth Commitees.
He was one of the Sponsors of the Lee J. Greer Labor Day Swim, after graduation from law school he was associated with the Ernest Parker Law Firm of Southport and served as Assistant District Attorney for three years before being appointed District Court Judge by Governor James B. Hunt.
The Funeral will be Monday November 24th at 3 p.m. at the Whiteville United Methodist Church with burial in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m. at his parents home at 507 N. Thompson Street in Whiteville.
Active Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Shannon, Mike Helms, Dan Joye, Mike Easley, Mike Eisenburg, Maurice Sinclair, Steve Yount and Jerry Dove.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the 13th Judicial Bar Association.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund in memory of Lee J. Greer Jr., in care of Whiteville High School, Whiteville, N.C.
