Joe Turner, of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at home, at the age of Eighty-Three.

He was born, July 3, 1928, in Gibson, Tennessee, the son of Arnett and Phennoy (Roach) Turner.

He married Miss Betty Jean Baker on October 29, 1949.

Mr. Turner was a member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church, served in the US Navy, was a Volunteer Fire Department in Earle for thirty-three years and worked as a salesman for Lance, Inc. for twenty-two years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, restoring old cars, received his pilot's license in his fifty's, and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers: W.C. Turner, Tom Turner, Mack Turner, J.D. Turner, Charles Turner and Arnett Turner, Jr., one sister: Florence Korby.

Joe is survived by: his wife of sixty-one years: Betty Turner of the home, three daughters: Charlotte Lawson and husband Robert of Marion, Arkansas, Mary Lou Parkman and husband Robert of Wynne, Arkansas, Jo Ann Roberson and husband Bubba of Vanndale, Arkansas, one brother: James Turner of Gibson, Tennessee, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home. Interment was at Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Arkansas.
