According to the article, Mr. Linville's paternal grandfather, Thomas Linville, and two brothers, James and Abraham Linville, came to the Jackson County area from eastern Tennessee around 1830. His father, Aaron Linville, moved his family in 1850 to a farm south of Graham, then moved to the area near Skidmore a few years later. He married Sarah Jane Kelley, the daughter of Peter and Minerva (Hedgpeth) Kelley in 1867. Sarah died in the fall of 1881, and Linville married Betty Rogers, daughter of James and Sarah (Denton) Rogers in November 1882. He was survived by two sons, W. S. and Aaron Linville of Skidmore, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Slaughter of near Maryville and Mrs. Sarah Hornbuckle of Skidmore, and one brother, John Tyler Linville of Skidmore, as well as one adopted daughter, Mrs. Anna Duval.
