Anna said that she came to Skidmore on the Orphan Train, and she wore a button from the coat she had as a child on a chain around her neck, hoping that someone would recognize it. This excerpt from an obituary for W. R. Linville in the Maryville Daily Forum, February 6, 1933, page 2 provides a few clues: "Mr. Linville took Mrs. Anna Duvall of Skidmore into his home and reared her. In August, 1884, while on a business trip to Maryville, Mr. Linville was asked if he did not want to take a little girl to rear. The child, who was then about five years old, had been placed by someone with an aged couple for temporary keeping, saying she would be called for in about two weeks. The party to whom the child belonged never returned for her, and the aged couple, in poor financial circumstances, desired to place the child in good hands. Mr. Linville took her and reared her as his own."

From the January 4, 1917 Skidmore News, page 1:
"Married Last Sunday
On Sunday, Dec. 31, 1916, at 1 o'clock Mr. E. T. Duval and Miss Anna Linville of Skidmore, Mo., were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Linville.

Only the immediate relatives and a few close friends of the bride and groom were present. The marriage service was read by Rev. M. Dewitt and the music was rendered by Miss Rose Campbell. After congratulations were given a beautiful and delicious dinner was served.

The home was artistically decorated with ferns, potted plants and flowers.

At 3 o'clock the wedding cake was cut and served by the bride after which the guests departed for their homes, wishing Mr. and Mrs. Duval a joyous and happy voyage through life."

Anna was married to Edward T. Duval (b. Sept. 10, 1852, d. Sept. 24, 1928, buried Savannah, MO Sept. 26, 1928).
