Bernabe "Bernie" L. Trujillo Jr., age 54, was delivered unto the Lord on August 25, 2005 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico. Bernie was surrounded by friends and loved ones at the time.
Bernie was born on December 25, 1950 in Albuquerque.
Bernie graduated from Jemez Valley High School in 1968 and was a graduate of TVI as an auto body technician.
Bernie served in the United States Army from May 12, 1970 through May 1, 1976. Bernie married Bernice Martínez on September 4, 1971 in Ponderosa, NM.
Bernie managed the San Ysidro Thriftway Propane plant and worked in the industry for 32 years. Bernie was Mayor San Ysidro for two terms and served on the Village Counsel for several years. Bernie was Fire Chief of the San Ysidro Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Bernie enjoyed fishing, dancing, spending time with his family and friends, umpiring Little League games, bar-b-queing, going for wood and playing the guitar. Bernie also enjoyed playing music and hunting with his best friends, who were also his sons. Bernie was a member of the San Diego Mission Parish.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Bernice Trujillo, daughter, Christine Trujillo-Page and her husband, Brian, sons, Lawrence Trujillo and his wife, Tina and Julian Trujillo. Bernie is also survived by five grandchildren, Dylan, Jay, Selena, Victoria and Christopher, brothers, Pedro Trujillo and his wife, Angie, Sigredo "Efren" Trujillo and his wife, Juanita and David Trujillo, sisters, Dorothy Chávez and her husband, Alonzo and Joann Trujillo, mother-in-law, Santos Martínez and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as othe family members.
Bernie was preceded in death by his father, Bernable Trujillo Sr., his mother, Ferminia Trujillo, brothers, Nabor Trujillo and Isidor Trujillo, sister, Sylvia Trujillo and father-in-law, Adelaido Martínez.
Rosary will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alameda Mortuary Chapel in Albuquerque, NM A second Rosary will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in San Ysidro, NM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 29, 2005 at San Ysidro Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers for the service will be Michael Martínez, Rudy Martínez, Steven Chávez, Orlando Lucero, Ernie Salazar and Jerry Folsom. Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry Perea and Alonzo Chávez.
