Elmo, 62, of 2413 70th Place, Urbandale, died of cancer at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Hartner was born in Clay Center, Kansas, and moved to the Des Moines area 20 years ago. He was owner of Bosselman Hartner Truck Plaza, and partner in the Country Inn Motel. Elmo was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Iowa Motor Truck Association and formerly served on the board of directors of the National Association of Truck Stop Owners.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, his parents, two brothers and a sister.
