Carl "Shorty" Karr, 69, Rt 2 Box 155-A, Scio, is in the intensive care unit of the Albany Hospital. He is in serious condition with electrical burns across the backs of both legs and shoulders.
Word from Linn County Sheriff's said Tabler was passing another car when his vehicle left the road and sheared off a power pole which fell across the car into the road.
Karr, a Scio Rural Fire District fireman was in Crabtree when the alarm was sounded and he accompanied Eddie Reese, the district fire chief, in the fire truck from the Crabtree station. He was burned when he apparently walked on a live wire and then fell onto it, short circuiting the 7,200 volt line.
