Melissa Luverta Osburn, 90, of Fremont died Saturday at Sunbridge Care Center.

Mrs. Osburn was a native of Canute, Oklahoma. She lived in Fremont eight years and previously lived in Escalon many years.

She was a homemaker. She provided musical entertainment at various convalescent hospitals. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Escalon; she taught child evangelism classes and worked in the nursery at the church.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Osburn and Wesley Osburn, both of Bellflower, Arnold Osburn of Lebanon, Ore., John Osburn of Apple Valley, Jess Osburn of Santa Barbara and Irene Bowen of Fremont; brothers, Emmett Karr of San Diego and Bill Karr of Scio, Ore.; sisters, Nita Evans of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Billy Astrip of Monarch Beach; and 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Escalon. Burial will be at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon. visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon, in charge of arrangements.
