Emily was the youngest of William & Harriet Hepworth's children. Her middle name, Taylor, is Emily's grandmother, Mary (Taylor) Mellor's, maiden name. Emily married Horace Bentley Sr. on July 31, 1908. They had two sons: William and Horace Jr. In 1918 her husband, Horace, died in the Flu Epidemic of 1918. Her sister, Fan's husband also died in the epidemic. Emily went to work in the insurance and brokerage business.
