Harriet was the daughter of John and Mary (Taylor) Mellor. She was born in Honley, York, England. She emigrated in 1870 with her mother and two sisters Elizabeth and Emily and settled in the borough of Bristol, PA. Her father was also there. She and her parents and siblings lived next door to William Hepworth and his sister. She soon married William Hepworth. Not sure if they met then or new each other in England. They both worked in the felt mill. William's sister moved back to England and I think Harriet's family also moved back. William and Harriet had 7 children. Harriet and William moved to 2106 E. York St. Frankford, Philadelphia, PA where they lived until their death. Harriet died while she was down at the shore visiting her oldest son, George Hepworth, in Atlantic City, NJ.
