Ruth M. Nellen, age 70, died peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 19, 1932 in the town of Bristol and was the daughter of George and Anna (Steinfeldt) Thompson. She married Raymond Nellen on Oct. 17, 1953 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. Ruth worked at Wisconsin Porcelain and drove cars for local automobile dealerships. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Gary) Andrewjeski of DeForest; two sons, James (Linda) of Madison and John (Linda) of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Renee, Ted, Tricia, Angie, Johnas and Paige; and two brothers, Marvin Thompson of Sun Prairie and Norman Thompson of Madison. She will be missed by relatives, friends and her pets, Molly and Bonnie. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2002 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests that memorials be made to HospiceCare Inc. They would also like to thank the doctors and staff at HospiceCare for their care of Ruth during her stay. WSJ 6/29/2002
