DeLeon Free Press (TX), 16 Jun 1960 (Front page) - Final Rites Held Thursday for Mrs. Champion - Services were held in the Meth. Church at Downing at 3:30 pm 9 Jun 1960 for Mrs. Eula Lee Champion, who passed away in the DeLeon Hosp. in the afternoon of 8 Jun 1960. She had been in ill health for a long period of time & had been in the hosp. for several weeks. Mrs. Champion was born Eula Lee Stansell in the state of AL on 1 May 1876. She was 84 yrs. of age at the time of her death. She had lived in Comanche Co. since 1919. Her husband preceded her in death in 1943 & by one son & one dau. Survivors: 5 daus. & 3 sons. They are: Mrs. Lessell Rogers-DeLeon, Mrs. J. P. Yates-Downing, Mrs. Elmo Shupp-Downing, Mrs. N. T. Anglin-Dublin, Mrs. J. C. Sadberry-DeLeon, L.B. Champion-Fairfax, AL, F. M. Champion-Abilene & A. J. Champion, Jr.-Odessa. Interment was in Downing Cem.
