Wife of Rev. Ronald Bishop, a Former Auburn Resident, had been in Ft. Wayne Hospital since 1960.
Mrs. Ruth E. Bishop, 44, of Fort Wayne, wife of Rev. Ronald C. Bishop, a native of Auburn who is serving as pastor of the Grasmere Heights Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne, died at Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Bishop had been a patient at the hospital since May 1, 1960. She entered the hospital while she and her husband were on furlough from British Honduras.
Mrs. Bishop underwent surgery to correct a heart condition and suffered cardiac arrest.
She and her husband had spent 15 years in Guatemala and British Honduras and were planning to return to Central America after she regained her health.
Rev. Bishop became pastor of the church in Fort Wayne in 1961.
Mrs. Bishop was a sister of Mrs. Harold Johnston of Jackson, Mich., wife of the Rev. Johnston, a former pastor of the Nazarene church in Auburn.
Mrs. Bishop was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Fort Wayne. She and Rev. Bishop were married on June 12, 1943 in Fort Wayne.
Surviving in addition to her husband and sister are her father, Carl Hower of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Carol Davis of Fort Wayne, Miss Elizabeth Bishop, a student at Olivet College at Kankakee, Ill., and Miss Mary Bishop, at home, and a brother, Donald Hower of Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Bishop was a member of the church in Fort Wayne, the Nazarene World Missionary Society and was a graduate of Olivet College.
The body was removed to the D. O. McComb & Sons funeral home in Fort Wayne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the South Side Church of the Nazarene, Dr. Paul Updyke of Marion, Northeast district superintendent of the Nazarene church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
